OCEAN's 50th anniversary

A Legacy at Sea. A Future in Motion.

By Costantino Zavoianni, Chair of OCEAN

Ship supply is more than a service—it’s a lifeline for vessels at sea. Whether a container ship, a naval vessel, or a cruise liner, every ship depends on the timely delivery of essentials: food, spare parts, safety equipment, and more. This is what ship suppliers do—and do exceptionally well.

And for five decades, OCEAN—the European Ship Suppliers Organisation—has been the voice of this vital sector across the European Union.

This is our celebratory page, where we will publish all the latest public events and details on how you can take part.

Golden Years, Timeless Service

Since 1976, OCEAN has stood at the helm of advocacy, uniting national associations and professionals in ship supply. Our mission has remained clear: to represent the interests of the sector vis-à-vis the European institutions, ensuring customs, tax, and maritime policies recognise the unique nature of what we do.

Ship supply requires speed, precision, and trust. So does advocacy. OCEAN delivers both.

Honouring the Past. Navigating the Future.

In 2026, we won’t just look back—we’ll move forward. We’re launching a year-long series of celebratory and inclusive events, designed to engage every member of our community, in every corner of Europe.

We’ll connect through:

  • Traditional face-to-face meetings, where we come together in ports and cities;

  • Virtual gatherings, ensuring participation regardless of distance;

  • And dynamic social media storytelling, sharing our voices, milestones, and memories across platforms.

It will be a celebration of the sector—by the sector, for the sector.

Half a Century of Trust. A Lifetime of Commitment.

Trust in ship supply is built on performance, and OCEAN has earned that same trust through steadfast representation. We champion clarity in customs procedures, defend the bonded store model, and work tirelessly to support the competitiveness and sustainability of ship supply across EU ports.

Our work with European institutions ensures that ship suppliers are not forgotten in maritime, customs, and food law—but understood, respected, and supported.

Celebrating 2026 – A Sector Worth Championing

This year-long celebration in 2026 will offer something for everyone. It is not just a moment, but a movement—a rolling campaign of connection, learning, and pride. It will remind us all why ship supply matters more than ever in a rapidly evolving maritime world.

From live events and expert panels to online showcases, interviews, and anniversary spotlights, everyone will have a seat at the table. Every voice will be welcomed. Because if OCEAN didn’t already exist—it would need to be created today.

Charting Success Since 1976 – 50 Years and Beyond

As the trusted EU voice of ship supply, we continue to safeguard the principles that enable us to serve ships efficiently and effectively. We speak out when new rules threaten our ability to operate. We provide expertise to decision-makers. And we raise the profile of ship supply as a critical function in the maritime supply chain.

We are united by purpose—and by passion.

In Gratitude and Confidence

To every ship supplier, past and present, and to every partner in our journey—thank you. This anniversary is yours. Let us celebrate it together, across borders, across platforms, and across generations.

Let’s use 2026 to show the world what ship supply really means—and why it will always matter.
